This is a richly detailed late-19th-century Victorian cabinet, most accurately described as a Victorian washstand or small chest, crafted in solid walnut with pronounced hand-carved decoration and original period hardware. The cabinet features a tiered upper gallery with carved cresting, originally designed to support a mirror (often removable, as seen here), a hallmark of Victorian washstands. The drawer fronts showcase bold relief carving, including a central sunburst medallion and scrolling foliate motifs, all framed by shaped moldings. The turned legs, paneled sides with vertical reeding, and scalloped apron further reinforce its Victorian pedigree with subtle Eastlake movement influence, emphasizing craftsmanship and geometric detail. The cabinet is fitted with original brass drawer pulls, adding to its historical integrity. Overall condition appears very good for its age, with minor surface wear. There are a few more noticeable marks at the bottom of the cabinet. Please see photos.
The size is 53.5”H X 34.25”W X 19”D.
