This Georges Rouault (French, 1871–1958) framed etching, “Christ and the Children,” will bring a sense of sophistication to your home! French expressionist and religious painter, Georges Rouault was the son of a cabinetmaker. Trained as a maker of stained-glass windows (1885-90) before studying at the School of Fine Arts in Paris where he was encouraged to develop his talent (1891-98). In 1895, he began to concentrate on Biblical themes in his paintings, etchings and lithographs. If you look at the photographs provided, you will see that the etching is dated 1935 in the bottom left corner as well as proof of purchase from 1967. This would make a perfect addition to your entryway, living room, office, or place of your choosing! The etching is in as found estate condition with no significant defects to note.
