A magnificent French Louis XV-style gilt bronze mounted bureau plat, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. The desk features, elegant lines, richly cast ormolu mounts including female busts, acanthus leaves, and rococo scrollwork throughout. The top is fitted with a black gilt-tooled writing surface framed by exquisite kingwood and tulipwood marquetry, bordered by an undulating gilt-bronze edge. Three drawers in the front, each with intricate foliate, ormolu mounts, and working locks with keys. Cabriole legs terminate in foliate sabots. The back is fully finished, allowing the desk to float in a room. A stunning statement, desk, ideal for a library, study, or executive office -? combining, artistry, craftsmanship, and history.
