This Pair of French Directoire Style Brass and Mahogany End Tables Attributed to Maison Jansen are a great example of french furniture and decor from the mid 20th century! This pair is equipped with Mahogany tops with a nicely done gloss lacquered finish as well as finely detailed brass frames. This pair is perfect for any living room, bedroom, entryway or office and can be used as end tables or even lower night stands. Although this pair is not signed by Jansen I do strongly believe between my 3 generations worth of experience with Jansen and french furniture that these are in fact Jansen. The pair is in good antique/vintage condition with the exception of some light surface scratches as well as fading to one of the tops which can be fixed by our in house refinisher if you were to request so upon purchase. There is also some tarnishing to the brass frames but otherwise good condition considering age!
Maison Jansen was an interior decoration office based out of Paris founded in 1880 by Jean-Henri Jansen. They specialized in mostly Louis XVI style furniture and then progressing and adapting to changes throughout the years until they transitioned into Deco and Mid Century modern in their final years. The firm closed its doors in 1989. The firm was taken over Stephane Boudin in 1920 who continued the legacy and was responsible for decorating the white house with Jackie Kennedy while President JFK was in office.
