This pair of vintage Grand Tour style metal planters, made after C. M. Clodion, is truly exceptional. Claude Michel (20, December, 1738 – 29, March, 1814), known as Clodion, was a French sculptor in the Rococo style and specialized in elaborate Terracotta and Bronze sculptures. Clodion is one of the most renowned French Sculptors of the 18th and early 19th Century. He used subjects just as Bacchus, Venus, and other Mythological Figures. If you look up Clodion’s work you will also notice the use of tambourines and gourds within some of his sculptures. If you look at the photos provided, you can see the detail in the metal work. These planters will last you for many years and will add a sense of sophistication and character to your patio, entryway, home, office or place of your choosing! They are in good, vintage, condition with some oxidation to the metal and light surface scratches to the finish. Otherwise good condition.
